A great week of BREAKAGE!

This is a comic relief from all the seriousness going on in my life!  This week was a fully loaded week...and so is next week! @o@ (Liz's scared face...! *Deep breath!!*)  Liz Yu (Founder/Creator of Yaby Cosmetics) warned me that the larger pans are the ones that break the easiest, but usually my palettes are nicely packed into a bag within a sturdy zucca bag so......well on Wednesday's photo shoot, I was asked to bring a few things to touch up the model and help out~ I'm very glad I went - but when I came back, my PF025 (Beautiful beautiful BRONZER) broke!!!  Ahhhhh! I was like NOOO! That's one of the prettiest colors! Universally flattering almost !

And today as I was packing up from my gig as makeup/hair/photographer, my brow zing fell onto the hard floor at the beautiful hotel bathroom!!  And....there goes my brow zing in Light!

:( other than a thinner wallet, I have some sentimental attachments to these things!  ....I have other bronzers I can use, but I do need a lighter pigmented brow powder! Benefit charges shipping fees so getting one thing from them isn't going to save me money with my pro discount - so I decided to go with smashbox...But!  It's SOLD OUT!!  So...um...well I'll figure something out! But comon come back on stock!  I have to say it was very sad to see them c.r.a.c.k. like that!

I'll end this comic post with a make up tip!  Some of you probably do this already but I just thought I would share anyways!  *drum rolls...* just kidding just kidding!

Do you ever have eye makeup remover you weren't terribly fond of? Either it stung, or it just didn't do the job the way you hope it would?  What about body oils (natural - excluding baby oils or anything petroleum based) that you might use for your skin or hair that just didn't suit your skin type (ie: cause break outs, too oil rich and greasy for your hair and skin)?  A great way to use those products up is to use it as a pre-cleanser to your lip and eyeliner/eyebrow brushes!  If your disappointing eye makeup remover does not have oil in it already, then you can mix a few drops of the body oil and then pre-cleanse the waxy material for your waterproof eyeliner/brow brush and also lip brush.  I like to use that first, and then soap or shampoo, and then sanitize afterwards.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! And hope all of your favorite makeup stays safe and complete! :)

Underwater Photoshoot / Sneak Peak & behind the scenes fun!

Photography: Chad Riley (Chad Riley Photography)
Makeup : Liz Chang (Skyla Arts)
Styling : Katie Quinn (Q the Stylist)
Model: Allie @ Look Models
Photography Assistant: Antonio Fernando

Super excited to blog about this! This was certainly one of the harder shoots I've worked on - because of it being under water and all! =P  Even though the makeup items I used are 'waterproof' but it doesn't mean the force of the water will not wash the makeup out! Plus being in the water, everything looks 'blue/green' and pale in the water so I had to adjust accordingly.  The first look is the beige/sequins outfit~ I couldn't believe the waxy lipstick washed off!  I was super stressed because I wanted to fix it ASAP! My star makeup brands for this shoot that saved the day are: Yaby Cosmetics, Makeup Forever, and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics! Woot ! The other challenge I had was doing the makeup while she was still in the water because it will take too much effort to come in and out of the water, and the model needs to conserve her energy and be as comfortable as she can be for such a physically demanding photo shoot!  If I knew how to swim, I might have been of better help, but unfortunately being in the water is one of my phobias, so it was very inspirational to me to see Allie move in the water with challenging outfits!!!!

If you think Allie looks very familiar, you're not hallucinating (j/k)! She is the beautiful face you see at every Sephora right now at the Skincare section!! Front and Center of every sephora!  Her face, features, and the way she moves her body under water - it was VERY amazing to watch! Katie (the stylist) and I were just above water admiring her movements from and I was in awe at what I was witnessing.  Allie was also one of the models for the Tommy Hilfiger show that I worked on! It was so nice to see her again there!

 Some Behind the Scenes Fun:
My set up right by the pool!  It was kind of cool because I get to work in natural light! My director's chair, my kit.
My little SMA (sanitary maintenance area)! Hand sanitizer(with Lavender essential oil! love!), visine, saline solution (for the bleach in the pool), MUFE eye seal, brushes in the black tube (covered before the model arrives), makeup remover, MUFE Mist & Fix. Remains covered before model arrives.
Everything that will touch the model - disposables, sponges, palettes. lash curlers
Chad: "Allie! Dive! It'll be cool"
Allie: "Do I have to???!!"
*Allie preparing to dive with that huge dress!*
Dived! She looks so pretty! ^^
Look at her go! :)
And last but not least! An iphone capture of the epic dive! :)
More images to come!  All in all I was super thrilled to be a part of this shoot, and meeting Chad, Allie, Katie and Antonio!  Katie and I even ate the SAME breakfast! (Oatmeal and a banana!) Freaky~ ! haha~ I hope to work with all of them again!

Mike, and updates!

Photography: Rummy Makmur
Makeup : Liz (Skyla Arts)
Model: Mike @ City Models

Where should I even begin? September passed by in a haze...Let me begin by introducing the new photo I'm uploading!  I worked with Rummy whom you must be very familiar with by now! :) He's been slammed with like 5-7 photo shoots a week (let me tell you that that's just CRAZY! and amazing! That someone can do that!) and we arranged this shoot early September or late August (I can't even remember...) but this was literally right before our move to our new place so my studio was super messy!  Thanks again to Rummy and Mike for being uber tolerant of my mess!

It's been 2 weeks and 2 days since our move to our new place and...well it's still a big mess because out of those 16 days I worked 13 out of those 16 days.  Which is why this afternoon when I'm trying to update my blog, I'm like WHAT should I post? lol...  For some of those things, and also including some projects I worked on in September I'm still waiting for the photos/film.  (Oh..those days never end will they?  I talked to another model and she says: "It's ALWAYS the case.  We're ALWAYS waiting for our photos!"  Liz: "Sigh.....I'm never getting those photos am I..." lol...

I am waiting to post some of my latest works and behind the scenes (upon approval of the models and photographers) and also waiting to receive photos from the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Tailgate  ("The Ultimate Tailgate Party") event I worked as a lead artist last Thursday!  Little did I know..the event featured Tommy Hilfiger himself, and Third Eye Blind~!  Since my last update I also participated in a bridal makeup competition~ and of course some very interesting photo shoots!

I am touching up the lips for Alana @Look, whose character from "The Hilfigers" is Julia I like this photo a lot because it's one photo of me applying makeup and not looking scary while doing it! lol~ I guess this is a teaser...!  And I promise I will write those other blogs about exfoliation and skin care very soon! More on Tommy Hilfiger and the other photo shoots to come!!  :)  Thanks for visiting and not forgetting about me!
